~ Kim's Bio ~

Kim has been practicing yoga since 2003. She started taking yoga classes at a local gym because her entire body was feeling tired and miserable.

"I have been working in the Cosmetology industry since 1974. I would come home after work and so much of my body hurt. I would lay on the bed with my feet on the wall. Not realizing that I was doing yoga."

Because of chronic holding patterns in her posture she was in a lot of pain from neck to feet. The arches in her feet had even started to fall to where Kim had to wear orthodics in her shoes, never able to wear sandals with out pain. Going bare footed was out of the question.
Kim explains,
"Because of YOGA my feet are healed and strong!  I never have problems with my feet or arches any more".
She adds,
"Because of my Faith in Jesus Christ my intention is to bring glory to God through my Yoga".
Kim's classes are fun because she has a wonderful sense of humor. She knows how to help her students find rest and strength in the poses. Her attention to her student's needs and limitations  brings a sense of peace and comfort to them. Helping them to find freedom on and off the mat.
Kim completed her initial 200 hour Teacher Training in 2012 at Charleston's Holy Cow Yoga studio, under master yoga teacher Trace Bonner. She completed the next level of advanced 300 hour training in September of 2015 with New Day Yoga, with master teacher Dayna Gelinas. Kim has also associated herself with HOLY YOGA and completed this training in May of 2016.

After a 35 day stay in India in 2018, Kim has become even more devoted to God. Her desire is to share the gift of the love of God to all.
As Jesus said in Mark 12:30-31,
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength and love your neighbor as yourself."
Kim is an active member of Yoga Alliance. With over 645 hours of training and over 1,500 hours of teaching.
She started Charleston, SC's first Christ centered yoga school in September 2019. Open Heart Yoga Academy, Teaching Teachers how to Teach Yoga from a Christian Perspective. The first training was a ginormous learning experience for both Kim and her student. It took longer to complete due to the interruption of COVID 19. But finishing up in September  of 2020, OHYA is moving and looking forward to the next training. She hopes that will be in the Spring of 2021, God willing.
